I don't know what made me decide that I wanted a Jungle Themed room for my son all I knew was that I didnt want it to be a typical boys room, i.e blue, cars, dinosaurs etc.... I wanted something neutral, something that if i were to have a girl, could also appeal to her.

When we think of a Jungle theme I can only assume your thinking of lush greens, dark browns, and exotic animals.... thinking of these things made me so excited that I couldnt wait to get started with the planning.

So many different ideas came into my head, such as painted wall murals, wall stickers, & wall hangings.

To get some ideas I just typed "jungle themed bedroom for babies" in google and it brought up lots of images and websites that i could use. I came across this website www.wallsofthewild.co.uk.   I like this website because the stickers look good and are a good size to jazz up any themed room. My initial thought was that the stickers were a little pricey coming to a total of £225 for 8 stickers so i was in two minds as to wether or not spend that much.

My second idea lead me to pained wall murals which are amazing and can really transform a room. There were a couple of websites that I looked at www.sacredart-murals.co.uk and www.starlight-murals.co.uk. The only downside to having a painted wall mural is that;

  1. Very expensive
  2. All the hard word and details will soon be painted over once your child gets to a certain age where they want to redecorate. It's something that is so personal and special that you can't keep forever.

I would suggest the best thing would be to get a painting done on canvas which you can put up in the room. This is something that you can then keep forever or even put up in a different room once your children are done with the theme.

The End Product

Finally I stumbled upon this website www.grahamsandersoninteriors.com and www.justmurals.com, which have such a large selection of wall murals which are paintings that are printed onto wallpaper. As soon as I saw "Jungle Dreams" I fell in love with the art work that I knew that it would look amazing in his bedroom plus he would love looking at all the animals.

The wallpaper cost us £120 which as you can see is well worth the money and I am so glad that I did not opt for the stickers as the main feature although saying this I will be purchasing a few Macaws just so the jungle can flow onto the plain walls.

So as you can see from the picture of his bedroom all we have done is painted the walls a lush green colour which we matched with one of the greens from the wallpaper and on one wall put the "Jungle Dreams" wallpaper. By painting the walls a solid colour and having one wall with the mural gives the room an eye catching scene, it also allows the mural to be the main focal point of the room.

Other jungle themed products that I bought was the Lambs and Ivy Happy Tails 4 piece bedding set and a lovely giant foam jungle puzzle which I used like a rug by his cot.

I ordered a monogram wall art from http://worddecor-n-more.com/category_23/Pre-Designed-Decals.htm, which is an american website.  Hasn't arrived yet but once it is on the wall I will add more pictures.

Jungle Dreams Wall Mural

The Jungle Dreams wall mural is 8FT 3 inches in height x 13FT 8 inches in width. The mural was too big for the wall in width which mean that part of the mural was not used in the room as i only wanted one wall with the wallpaper. I could have put the remainder of the wallpaper on the continuing wall but we decided not to for now. Each carton contains 8 panels, which must be put onto the wall like a grid. Instructions are included in the carton along with the paste which is non-toxic.

It takes two people to put the wallpaper up, so me and my husband started at 10pm and finished at 2am! well worth the 4 hours.

After standing back and looking at the wall we were both just speechless and family members who came to see it just said "WOW" and it really is "WOW". Since putting up the wallpaper I realised I didn't want to overdo the jungle theme in the room I feel that the wallpaper speaks for itself.

My son even though he is only 6 months he loves his Toucan and reaches out to touch it every time he is in his room.

The 4 Piece bedding set is a lovely set which I bought to accentuate the room.  The quilt cover is 3-D and the colours are amazing.  As said in the description on Amazon the quilt can be used as a wall hanging, which I think is a nice idea if you have the wall space.
